Took advantage of the warm spell and with temperatures close to the eighties all week the sunfish came out to play. Fished the Guadalupe River earlier this week. Caught a nice variety of Redbreast,Redear, and Bluegill. A couple of bass rounded out the catch. Nothing big but all the sunnies were the perfect eating size (7 to 8 inch range). Fish were caught on worms hanging on the bottom by brush piles. Fish were in 10 to 15 feet of water. Since I had a bunch of trout ready for the frying pan,all of the sunnies were released to fight again. Catching a few winter time sunnies. It just don't get any better! fish

Awesome job on some winter sunnies. I need to go find some this weekend as we're in the 70s in the Dallas area, hopefully it's enough to get em going.

Sweet Chuck! I haven't caught a Sunfish yet this year, looking forward to the longer days and breaking out the fly rod.

It's been Bass and Stripers/Hybrids for me the last few months.

Don't worry about the mule, just load the cart

Thanks A.J. and Andrew for the replies. cheers Sunnies have been few and far between this winter. With the water bodies being in pretty good shape spring, summer, and fall should be AWESOME! hooked

Side Note: Andrew: Been catching some nice bass this winter also. As for me it has been trout,Crappie,Bass, and White Bass to fill the void. thumb

Nice fish Chuck. Sunfish for me have been few and far between. I did manage some nice Bluegill earlier this week dock fishing on Mcqueeney.

This latest warm spell has em active. Do you think a early spawn is in store for the sunfish.

Thanks Curtis for the reply! cheers I think the first spawn will take place early to Mid March. Just my two cents I do not think the mild summer will be that big of a factor. 2cents
