So I got a wild hair and made 12 of these fishing noodles for catfish that a lot of folks around here rant and rave about. So I have 2 questions. 1, do any of you that use them weight them down or let them drift? and 2 what part of CC is best to use them. I have read a lot of folks saying that I need to go to the west end but those post were several years old. Anyone go an opinion of which section of the lake would be good for these things?

Thanks

Haven't used noodles or any type of jug line in several years but when we did, we always put some weight on the bottom just to ensure the bait drops to the level we want, even 1 oz is fine but I've seen others use a lot more (like 1/2 brick). Doesn't Cedar Creek run north/south for the most part with larger arms that extend to the east?

I use a 1/2 oz slip or barrel sinker and let them drift across a channel or a wind blown flat. I do best when the wind is out of north to northwest about 5 mph. I have a spot where they will drift for about 1/3 mile from 12 ft to 3 ft deep. I set my lines 5 to 8 ft deep. I always stay where I can watch them while I fish with rod/reel. Once a fish is on they will head to shallow water after a while so they can lay on the bottom. Once they quit pulling the noodle around I ease over and pick them up. Those noodles will tire out a 20lb blue pretty quick. Sure is fun to watch them stand up. Fresh blue gill are what I use mostly. Amazes me that a 3 lb blue can swallow a 4" blue gill whole.
