I broke my livewell open close actuator today and I've read that it's probably due to the valve being gummed up and stuck. Also my other livewell is draining slow so it may be stopped up as well so going to try and replace both valves while I'm at it. My question is how do I go about getting to the valves in the battery compartment (anything I have to remove and take out?) and how hard is it to do on your own. Just don't want to pay the shop $70 an hour for them to do it when I could do it myself. I have a 05 skeeter zx. Thanks

Pull the oil tank and span plate
The valves are under there in the bottom of the bildge

You can replace or rebuild them

Usually on the Skeeters there is a plate mounted across the bilge that either has a battery charger or oil tank mounted to it. Unscrew that and move it out of the way and the valves should be right there. There are a couple different valves so make sure you get the correct ones. If you have to replace the cables also, tie a string to the cable ends and pull them out, Use the string to pull them back through.

Do skeeter boats all have flow-rite from the factory? Some other brands use T & H Marine valves, which have a different actuator & actuator hole size.

Skeeters use the Flow Rite valves.
