With the Somerville trail way system closed, access to the Yegua via Kayak is only available through the Nails Creek SP boat ramp. The morning paddle was simple and without issue, but the wind unleashed and paddling back against the wind and waves was treacherous and slow. Made it back, with a stringer of fish and a sore back. Tough day to paddle, but a good day nonetheless. Six nice whites on the stringer, 4 catch and release Bass, and lunker of a carp that provided me with some entertainment.

Looks like a great trip doctorliver! Winter wind and waves can be a tricky workout.

Nice stringer. Some say the run has begun. Thoughts?

I think the run has definitely started, and the fish are definitely healthy. The rain has kept me away from the creeks this fall and early winter. I hope El Nino decides to give us a short break to enjoy the spring fishing season.

A buddy with a small boat with outboard motor could make some gas money ferrying kayakers back to the launch! cheers
