Looks like there are enough to call FW and find out if you can make this trip a go just by dealing directly with them. I'll shoot Fred an email just to see what his thoughts are and to see if he'll go by there a talk to them..

I haven't heard from Fred so he may be on the road. Billy and I are going to be in Port A Saturday so we may go by the docks to see what we can find out.

I thought I'd let them know that there is a bunch of rag-tag hooligans that want to party. Catching fish is optional. And that it appears to be between 25 and 30 folks that need direction.

I have a short list of things to ask them but if any of you have questions or concerns about heading in this direction speak up now.

If I find out anything constructive I will post up whatever instructions I may get from them. Please be aware that everyone will be responsible to contact and produce any monies they require to reserve a spot on this trip.

Another thing that needs to be determined immediately is which weekend to go. The weekends of October 21, 22, 23 and October 28, 29, 30 are open (I think) and both should have a favorable moon. So if you have a preference please post it now. Otherwise it will be assumed that you don't care,

Monitor this thread for any announcement.

And I am not your charter master. taz

Bobby,

Would be nice to understand why we HAVE to go to Perdido. Wouldn't there be more options for the daylight fishing of the trip if we went to one of the other locations?

No "partying" for me, fishing for tuna at the best rig location is what's important.

Short answer is...we don't have to go there. I have been on several of these trips in the past and I've gone to Perdido about 1/3 of the time. I truly believe that FW takes you to the rig that they believe is producing. We have had EPIC trips to Perdido and we have had some that were average. FW has always worked hard to put us on good fish but sometimes the fish just don't cooperate. That's fishing. I have been on trips to Diana/Hoover that were killing fish the first night and you couldn't buy a fish the next. These trips have a good following and a good catch record. This group will drink a little bit, but this is not a party boat trip. These guys are hard core fishermen and they fish hard. It's a good group of fishermen on a good boat with a good crew. That's why we keep going back year after year and the guys on the other site try to poach all the good days for this boat.

Robert .... Unfortunately it's not that easy. The tuna bite turns on and off so quickly and frequently there is not "magic" rig or solution. I've lost count of the times we've caught fish the first night and almost none the second night. I remember a trip this group had a few years back when we go 60+ YFT the first night and something like 5 the second night.

These fish are highly pelagic and move. The captains try to stay on top of what is going on where and then make the best decision but that doesn't always work out. I have a friend I met years ago when he was working as a deckhand on the Pelican at DSH. He now is the skipper of that boat. On the same days we went to Perdido last year he and his charter went east. They limited out while we only got 25 or so fish. I was expressing dismay over that with him and he told me
"it's just the luck of the draw" .... "it could have been the other way around and sometimes is".

Contrary to Chuck thinking we go to Perdido 1/3 of the time..... I've done about 8 trips with this group now and I'm pretty sure we have gone there 1/2 those trips. In fact it seems as though we have been there 3 out of the last 4 trips. But I'm not sure.

But sometimes Perdido is hot. Until someone comes up with a foolproof system of choosing a place to go we'll have to rely on what it is now.

Hey, Brian, I put that private charter together on the Bluefin (Freeport, TX). The date is March 31st/April 1st (36hr) trip. 10 People Max. $560 a person. We currently have 6 spots open if you know anybody that wants to go. I paid for the trip already.. I'm living on the edge with the philosophy "Build it and they will come". I hope some more people jump on board.. Otherwise, this will be my most expensive trip ever.. lol

Anybody interested, feel free to jump on!

Tight Lines!

Okay .... in the interest of keeping the Joe Livingston Memorial idea alive I am reviving this which is the original thread for this trip.

Please post up if you have posted on this thread and still intend to go.

We need to get this going. Why? Steve said so clap
