Not really catfishing related but I know that a few of yall run your boats at the coast. So, the only boats I've ever brought from here, down there, were airboats so all we had to do was spray them off. But I'm taking my 17' aluminum CC down there to fish the bay & flats for Reds n such. Anyway, anything I should know in particular about what to do to my rig? I know I need to spray it down daily, but what about the motor? And one more thing, I'll be fishing mostly close to ingleside and that part of the bay. There are a a few tankers that roll through there. My rig no likey waves lol.. So any ideas of navigating those would be appreciated. I don't think many roll through there but i'm sure a few will. thanks guys.

Wash it good and flush the motor. If the trailer isn't aluminum or galvanized it WILL rust away. No amount of washing will prevent a painted metal trailer from rusting.

Spray it down with corrosion X...use the entire can. Vaseline is good on metal too.

Try and keep it off ur rig as best u can...it's tough on boats that aren't made for it...heck it's tough on those too.

He's right about ur trailer...as soon as u pull out of the ramp, go straight to a car wash and use $5 just on ur trailer.

Awesome thanks! Yeah it's galvanized. So spray it down before hand I assume? After the weekend trip is over flush the motor? Or each trip out during the weekend? Which will prob be twice a day. Thank ya.

If at all possible on the way back home I always try to find a lake to at least back it down in and maybe run a few minutes if you can. For sure I would do the day after I get back home and run it a good bit on the lake

+1 and as far as the tankers. Don't worry about them just stay away fron the shallow edges of the channel when going around them and you will be fine I grew up in Ingleside. It is awesome fishing down there... you should do well

Awesome! I'm pretty pumped. I fish mostly artificials down there this time of year so hopefully the bait bill won't be too huge lol other than live shrimp of course. The reports are pretty good for Trout, Drum, and Reds and I figure it would only be better mid February, which is when i'm going.

Corrosion X all of your electrical, behind the helm too. Also, in the battery compartment, electronics connectors and T-motor connections, and any open exposed metals. Soak you engine in it. No harm done, and it smells good. If newer engine, the flush disconnect on side of engine is nice and convenient to flush every day. If not, make sure flush motor as soon as can on departure. Bring a extra hose and ears on trip.. some car washes down there have connections for boats.

One thing that I would like to add, if you have carpet on your bunks, you will definitely need to get the boat off of the trailer when you get home and wash the salt out of the carpet. The combination of treated wood bunks, salt, and aluminum don't go well together. The carpet holds the salt water, so a good washing of the carpet with the boat unloaded is in order. You can do this by unloading at a fresh water lake. Most people that run their aluminum boats in the salt regularly remove the carpet from the bunks and place some type of plastic or vinyl over the treated lumber for the, boat to set on.

It's all welded aluminum.

Buy yourself some ear muffs for your motor and run it that way after a day out. That's what we do and haven't had any issues, YET.

Lol we usually take my old mans boat and have been running it down there for about 7 years
just always flush it and nothing should ever happen.
