Exactly how long is too long? 100% up to the user, in my opinion.

Very nice ties on those jigs SK. I recall hearing that 1 1/2 X the hook length is the maximum for tails. I don't know that it matters much with Bass and Crappie as they engulf their prey. On the other hand, When I tie Pompano jigs I trim close to the hook bend due to their feeding habit of pecking the jigs. Your jigs should be fine but if you start getting short and missed strikes you can shorten them up a bit. Interesting question though. When is chenille too long?

How ever long you want them, but there are some that like a short tail or what I call short. Personally I think try to keep overall length more to size bait you want! I can't remember right now because I use a part of my vise to measure somewhat and as long as it's not past that point I am good. If using flash I have a spot I don't want that past too and I want my flash a little longer than the tail!
Jigs look good and yes some would warn about short strikes, but I just don't buy that so much unless I am bream fishing!
