Hey y'all,

I'm fairly new to creek fishing and was wondering if there are any good creeks around the Denton/north texas area that i should try and fish. I'm going to be off of work next week for about 10 days and i plan on fishing 7 out of those 10. Thanks!

Like a Marine and his rifle there is nothing deadlier than a fisherman and his rod

There is alot of water up your way! Now while yes most of those creeks are flooded out look for side creeks off those creeks and alot of times fish will hold up in those to get out of the fast moving water!! Pecan creek looks promising! I haven't been up that way in years but you may try that! Also there are alot of good ponds up there that do very well for bass! Just depends on what your lookin for!

Waders help. Lots of the creeks have lots of shallow water and mud above the banks before you get to the creek channel.

Hickory creek, Stuvert creek and near 380 Fork Trinity are good spots to catch crappie and white bass. Good luck

Elm fork off of 428 isn't flooded. There is also a walking path that runs along the creek. Went up there Sunday and it looks like it will be a spot for the sandbass run this year. May go stick a pole in the water today or tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

Stewart creek may be off the list of creeks this year. Construction crews are building a road in the creek bed for what looks like a new residential area.

Denton creek is still flooded way over the banks. Greenbelt is closed from 428 up to 380.

Well I give up. Trying to post pics but I'll just tell you. Caught 9 keepers and probably 10 to 15 smalls that were thrown back. Had a couple small sandies mixed in. South of Ray roberts dam is going to be a hot spot this spring. Good luck!
