Fly fished about 4 miles down river from Castell last weekend. Water was crystal clear and cold.
Caught several rainbow trout on olive buggers in the 10 to 12 inch range. They were all located
in 3 to 5 feet of water and were spread out. Keyed in on them rising to the surface. Once you located
them they hit the fly aggressively. Fortunately I had a kayak to cover more water.

There are still trout in town too. Same experience as above, but with a beadhead flashy brown bugger.

Thanks guys. Might take the yak down there this weekend. Can you still portage past the first big rock garden to get further downstream, and is the flow low enough that you can paddle back upstream to the bridge for a takeout?

Not sure on the answer to that one. I was fishing fairly close to Schneider's Crossing. The flow is slightly higher than what you normally
experience during the summer and the water level is also about 3-4 inches higher. Hope this helps.

IT does help. If nothing else I can always just have someone pick me up downstream a bit.
