Do y'all lose bigger fish from the stock hooks on these? I possibly lost 2 pb's this winter at the boat on them!

KVD changes his hooks.

I always change out stock hooks on crankbaits unless I'm fun fishing or prefishing. If you're fishing for a PB or fishing a tournament find some replacement hooks that work for you and stick with them. Stock hooks are usually either dull or will flex, resulting in lost fish.

Triple Grip hooks

If you got them all the way to the boat then lost them I'm sure your drag was too tight on a short line or possibly wrong rod, etc.

Hook companies have done a great job pounding it into our heads that the higher dollar hooks will catch more fish. If you don't do the mechanics right of catching big crankbait/treble hook fish it doesn't matter what hooks you are using.

Change the hooks. I use the KVD Triple Grips

I don't use strike king SBs anymore, for that reason and others

#2's, you can use #4's (which is what comes stock) but #2's have a little more bite and a little less flex.

This ^ #4 around cover and #2 in open water. Most of the time I use a #4

For the 10XD I use the giant 3/0.
6XD I was using the size 1 but I switched to 1/0 recently which is slightly bigger and they do not get fouled up.
5XD size 1, in the past I was using size 2, but the 1s seem to work just fine so went up a size on them as well
3XD size 4

For the Squarebills
2.5 size 1
1.5 size 2
1.0 size 4

I don't like em' either compared to other squarebeaks that are out there. But their 5, 6, 8, & 10 XD's will get it done... as long as you change the hooks on em'. Strike King hard-baits have always had junk hooks and junk split rings. They fixed the split rings but still use the same junk hooks, of course their price point is a little less than other crankbaits so that makes sense.

I think Strike King should put the KVD triple grip hooks on the KVD crank bait.
