Change the hooks. I use the KVD Triple Grips I think Strike King should put the KVD triple grip hooks on the KVD crank bait. X2 and charge a little more

This might put the jinks on me but we don't loose hardly any fish on stock hooks. Play the fish right and let them have line if they take a run close to the boat. The fish I do loose are mainly little ones that jump way out there.

Those short shank bent in tip hooks aren't very good unless they are really taking the bait deep in the mouth. I would caution using them all the time especially on the larger bodied baits.

I change all of my Strike King baits hooks out to triple grip short shank hooks. I also go up a size. You can find them in bulk packages fairly cheap online. 25 pack for around $10-$12 or so.

Buy the Strike Kings with Trokar hooks on them from the factory. Problem solved. At least as far as quality hooks go. I agree with what another said earlier though. Losing them at the boat is not due to hooks. It due to not knowing how to use your gear (or what IS the correct gear). Setting the drag properly is a good place to start. Then using a rod with the correct action to absord the shock from the fish trying to dislodge the lure, while keeping the correct amount of pressure on the hooks. And never, and I mean NEVER EVER try to boat flip a fish hooked by trebles when money is on the line. Get a net if you can, or are allowed by the tournament , or just reach down and grab em.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

I prefer 1X short shank round bends on those size baits, #4. I use a gamakatsu.

Agree I put #4 short shank round bends on 1.5 size baits and #2's on 2.5 size baits. I always start the day with round bends until the fish let me know they are eating good then switch to ewg style hooks. You will be a lot more likely to stick a fish with a round bend than a ewg or triple grip if they swipe at it. You may loose a few fish with round bends but more than likely you would have need hooked those fish with the triple grip style hook. Setting the drag properly and having the right set up make a huge difference at the boat with a big fish on a crankbait.
