It's much easier to flip boat docks and houses than with a bait caster. Try holding your lure, put a bend in the rod, and let the lure go right before you let the bail go. You can zip it 30 ft or more under the boat house. Takes practice but works great. I like wackys, jigs, etc... Watch out for the hooks when doing this.

You can use it like you would any other 6'6" mh. I would say your limitations would be on reel size. You put a 1000 series reel on it and you will be limited to small light weight baits. You put a 4000 on it and you can through anything you want.

Skipping docks Shaky head, Tx. rig, wacky rig, weightless fluke or senko,
Throwing small crank baits, jerk baits, top water baits, spinner baits. etc.
There is a lot you can do with it.
When I began fishing we pretty much threw everything on a 5.5ft pistol grip rod because that was the rod of choice at the time for a bait caster.

Keitech Salty Core Tube That's a great rod for skipping these baits under docks. You don't even need a weight with these, they're solid body tubes so they're heavy on their own. Great bait for fishing docks!

When I began fishing we pretty much threw everything on a 5.5ft pistol grip rod because that was the rod of choice at the time for a bait caster. Agree with this! When I started bass fishing in the mid-1950's,most people used spinning gear. Baitcasters with braid were for catfishermen!
In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

I use mine mostly to fill the gaps in my rod stands. . . Thats right funny there! Back in my day Mom would say "go out back and pick out a switch". If she would of had a 6'6" MH spinning rod I would not have sat down for week! Otherwise, pretty much the answers as offered above.
