Anyone ever have problems with dual gas tanks? I have a skeeter that on "dual" pulled about 3x the amount of port than Starboard. It never has done it this bad any ideas on how to fix? I want to switch to all starboard to use the gas but scared something is wrong and will hurt something.

They told me when I bought my Skeeter to never use the dual selection. Use port or starboard only. I didn't ask why, just accepted there word and went on. Maybe this is the reasoning. Call Fun n Sun in Hurst and ask there service department.

Plano Marine set mine on "dual" when I bought my boat and it has never been changed. Never had a problem.

Skeeters have always pulled more from one tank, than the other,
my previous Skeeter pulled more from the Starboard tank,
my current pulls more from Port. I manually move Dual switch to
compensate.

I've had the boat a couple years and it's always been on duel. However this time it seems almost nothing came out of starboard and a lot out of port. Normally it's pretty close with it pulling just a little more out of port. I plan on moving it to completely starboard tomorrow to burn that gas and hopefully it works and nothing happens.

Drawing fuel exactly-evenly from both tanks is extremely rare. Of course, if you say that based on the gas gauge, remember it could easily be off by 20% - they are so crude, and they certainly are not calibrated to each other. The only way to say this accurately is to always and only add the exact same amount of gas to each tank as opposed to simply refiling both when you buy fuel. I'm betting if you added fuel equally, one day you'd suck air on one tank before the other.

An extra foot of fuel line to one tank can make a difference. An extra bend of dip on one fuel line can as well. Lastly, don't forget the ball and spring in the anti-siphon valve; those are crude and never the same, so one tank cas easily make fuel available at a lower vacuum pressure than the other. This will mean one tank will empty first simply because it is the easiest to suck fuel from.

The laws of physics are exact to the micron; your boat is not. So, there's nothing "wrong" if it pulls unevenly from one tank vs. the other - as long as when connected alone, each tank's vacuum doesn't exceed the max supported by your outboard. (All outboard motors have a fuel system vacuum specification that must be met. The test for this is simply, any legit mechanic should be able to do it.)

It is possible that one tank meets the vacuum spec and the other does not due to some issue that has developed in the path to one tank and not the other. Running with such a condition can cause fuel starvation, especially at high flow demand (high RPM). Most engines will warn with a horn and bog down due to the starvation. In a bad case, lock-up could occur, but rare not to get the other symptoms first.

I'd try a short run build-up to high RPM on each individual tank setting. If it acts the same, you've simply identified that physics is more perfect that the fuel system arrangement for each of your two tanks. Solution: occasionally run on the less favored tank setting to equalize the fuel level.

Tanks intended for matched fuel level will be designed/built with a leveling hose between them at a low connection point. This is NOT favored because of so many negative/dangerous features of such a configuration, so I've never seen a boat do this.

I have a 2006 ZX250, run duel and it always pulls slightly more from one tank than the other. Think it is normal.
