I have an older 175 tracker and would like to add the trolling motor inset in the casting deck. First has anyone added one to their boat and how hard is it to do?

I installed a comfortroll from Tackle Warehouse last spring on my 97 Nitro bass boat. What I did was transfer the paper template to a thicker poster board that I got from Target. Just take your time deciding where you want it exactly. Trace around the template(I used a permament marker) and take your time cutting it out.I used a jigsaw. I also advise to put some silicone sealant on the screws that secure it to the deck.Mine came out super! Hope yours does too!!!

Not sure what the tracker is like. I had thought about doing it to my boat a year ago. The front deck had a soft spot so I replaced it and found the entire area full of old foam. Would have been a real PIA if I had cut into that deck and found that.

Especially with lower size/performance boats, be sure to consider depth below deck needed for a drop-in TM tray. Have a "Plan B" for the situation where you discover depth below deck to the hull isn't enough for the tray to fit all the way down. (This has happened many times as a surprise.) Cut the rear portion of the hole first and take out material to get an accurate depth measurement. Work your way forward, and if you run out of depth, you just found where the front edge of the new tray will have to stop. If that makes it not likeable, you can get 1/2 to 1 inch of extra from a neat riser plate made with starboard cut to fit around the lip of the hole with the tray's lip resting on it.
