I was wondering if anyone has caught or heard of any whites being caught at Reimer's yet? I'm also wondering if there will be any spawn there this year?

I've been waiting for years for the Pedernales river to fill with water again. When the river was dry, I saw trees and other vegetation growing in the river bottom area near the Hwy 71 bridge. Now all of that is underwater. I would think that should be good cover for the baitfish. Maybe even crappie and the whites?

Curious... I wonder how a river's eco system and any fishing is affected when that river that goes: from flowing for years, then literally almost going dry for several years (during the drought), then flowing full again (after recent flooding)?

Lake Travis was so low last year, when we fished for whites there, the lake was flowing like a small creek in some areas up near Leander & Marble Falls TX. the whites didn't have any creeks or rivers to go upstream. Lake Travis was dry last year and at about 35% full. After the 2015 floods, it is now at 90% full. The whites will have the Pedernales back. I didn't visit Reimer's when the Pedernales was dry, but maybe it's the Pedernales' year for a good white bass spawn.

I like the fact, when this river is flowing; Reimer's has way more room to fish than some of the other bank fishing white bass spawning areas i've been fishing. (Yegua - Circleville) This place is absolutely gorgeous anytime of the year too.

I'm thinking of making that drive just to look and see. I'll post pics if I do.

Any opinions, pics or info is appreciated.

I hope someone replies back with good results. There isn't a better place to catch these spawning whites than at Reimers ranch. Such a beautiful place. Water is crystal clear, oh my gosh, it doesn't get any better than this place.

Very interested in any info myself, It is worth a pilgrimage from dallas to fish the Pedernales, whether Reimer's Hamilton Pool, or any strech in between! The whites are fat, the schools can be thick and the scenery to die for! Please let us know!

If there is water and the lake is almost full, the sandbass should be using the river to spawn. If the water is flowing the fish should be there.

It was too nice of a day so took a ride. I drove out to Reimers to see what I could see. The Pedernales is flowing nicely. The water looked great. It is nice and clear. This 1st pic is a shot from the paved road looking down into the river/beach area. The main road into the park is now paved. Last time I was there it was a dirt road. Nice...

I didn't catch anything, but I didn't stay long. Not many people fishing yet. Regardless, it looks great out there.

I'll be back in a week or so once it warms up, with my 2-seater bass buggy to cover more area. My boat may make it easier to move me up and down the river. Unfortunately, One can't park near the water like in the past. I'm getting too old to hike and walk a lot like I used to. LOL

Tight lines!

This is at the beach area. I'm in the water looking downstream towards Lake Travis.

This is the area where you can back up and unload your gear. The County has smoothed out an area on the beach to easily launch a jon boat (by hand only) and kayaks. you cannot back into the water but you can get close and unload your stuff.

The whitebass numbers might be down a little in Travis from being so low but the whitebass will spawn in the main lake on any windy shallow shoreline. The success rate is lower but they still do the deed just the same. Nature always finds a way..

I promise you, I am thankful to have it back.

this place has been almost dry for the last 5 years + or -. seeing the water here again, looking like this, has me excited for the potential White Bass spawn.

I'll report any info I hear.

tight lines!

That is pretty much the Pedernales and Reimer's I remember from my college days! Just beautiful. hard to beat the Hill Country for unexpected beauty! Now if the whites cooperate, it will be on! Thanks for the video, it brought back fond memories of when it was private and you paid for access.
