Will this be enough to get a good reading or will I need to drop it more?

I think you're ok for sonar but the Down Scan might be a problem. It's sure protected there. Can you try it like that without to much trouble?

The down image is what might have a problem. Let us know how it works out.

if it was side image you might have to lower it, for down imagine that is fine.

If it only has an inch to go to be flush, I think it will be just fine for down-imaging.

Does anyone know the DI cone angle for that transducer? I believe the regular sonar is 20 degree, but wasn't sure what the DI is.

I've seen it listed as anywhere from 40 to 70 deg, that's why I was concerned about where it's mounted.

If the crystal is potted into the middle of the assembly, I would think it fine. If it's huge crystal reaching near the edge, maybe not, as to your concern. He'll see an abrupt cut-off if the beam is blocked, so he'll find out for us, lol.

That might have been old cars and bodies in that area.
Good to hear the ducer worked out.

Nope, never been on the lake but I've been through that area all my life and was just having a little fun!
