Beautiful place indeed! The whites will come, patience, grasshoppers!
In the meantime, take up rock climbing, primo place for it. Take the kids and show them the exposed grotto, with both stalactites and stalagmites exposed, and the delicate ferns that are growing out of them, keep an eye peeled for deer, maybe a bobcat, or the skies for a rare but not unusual golden eagle sighting. Sit by the rapids and let the sound of the clear, rushing water take your stress and worries downstream with the current. Reimers is a natural gem, on the doorstep of Urban Madness, an oasis, if you will. A microcosm of everything that everyone loves about the Texas Hill Country!
So, you didn't catch too many fish this trip, bet when you weigh in all the amenities, you probably didn't care much, did you?

If I'm going to get skunked this is a good place to do it.

Hello I am planning on going to this park for the first time, would I need to walk far downriver or upriver to get to the more productive spots when the run is on, thank you.

Well, redeemed myself...sort of. Went out this evening and caught 3 White Bass. Brought along the ultra light rod today. Yesterday I was using a medium action rod so figured maybe downsizing would help. This water is very clear so I think using light tackle is key.

nice. Thanks for the reports. You must live nearby Reimers? Keep at em. you'll find the sweet spot soon.
River minnows is a good way to go here. I use them or glass minnows when ever I can catch them, over lures all day long. But they are not easy to find and harder to catch.
Shut up and fish!

Yeah, I'm in South Austin so it's not a bad drive for me at all. Closer than the San Gabriel, and by far closer than the Somerville creeks. I'll probably see you out there one of these days. I've already been talking to several fisherman who seem to be regulars out there.

I keep reading that the whites are not at Reimer's yet, but they are. This was last Thursday and they were a mile or more upstream from the launch. Most of these came on a fly and only one was female. The water is very clear and a bait that is too big seems to get ignored more often than not. I'm going back on Friday. Good luck!

Nice catch. I've been out there a few times with mixed success. If you call 3 fish a success.

That is a pretty good testimonial that the whites are where they should be in the Pedernales. Way to go guy! Nice haul.

Nice haul mr brisket! Thanks for the report.
My neighbor went out again yesterday (Wednesday). He and his buddy took his bass buggy again. They went upstream past the 1st rapids and caught their limits in a few hours. He told me they got to Reimer's and launched around 11ish. As always, he/they used river minnows. He did say they caught a few by the small creek near the area near the rope swing before the rapids. He didn't see many others catching a lot. A few fly fishermen had a few each.
I guess it's that time for me to head that way. Maybe this weekend? I'll post if I go.
Tight lines!
Shut up and fish!

Went this morning from opening till about 10:30am. I still think we are a couple of weeks from it being great, but there are whites to be had from the bank. I started downstream of the shallows and picked up around 10 whites mixed with lots of small bass. I move upstream of the rapids and picked up another 20 or so. Only 3 kept for dinner tonight.
The park is starting to get crowded and when I left the upstream portion was fairly packed. More people than would keep me there, but still not terrible for this time of the year at the park.
Most fish were coming on freshly caught minnows, but the smallest humdinger I had also produced several.
