If Royse didn't catch any, then they are not there. End of story.

I heard today that they're alot of white bass being caught near the hwy 71 bridge where lake Travis meets the Pedernales river. Both reports are fishing from a boat.

I may need to get my Jon boat in there and try it out. My wife is deathly afraid of fishing from my Jon boat or bass buggy. She can't swim so she says "no thanks". I'll have get one of my other fishing buddies to go.

I'll see what happens and let y'all know.

Fished Reimer's this afternoon for about 2 or 3 hours. Caught a bunch of Guads, but still no White Bass. The water has dropped at least a foot since I was out there about two weeks ago. Still looking really good though. Should be any day now.

didn't make it out here yet. went up to the Yegua instead. A couple more weeks of this sunny and warm weather may get them going soon. I'll have to wait until then. The wifey has a growing list of honey do's. she's getting impatient waiting for me. LOL

I'll find out what my co worker did this weekend and pass it along.

tight lines

I've been to this river once but only because Hamilton Pool was too busy. I never knew you could fish for Sandies over there then. People have told me its a long walk. How far do you have to walk from where you park to a fishing spot? Any map? I live in Austin d-town area and have been driving to Granger to fish in the San Gab river for whites. That area has been really productive in the past.

My neighbor went out last Tuesday. He took his bass buggy and headed downstream from the beach / kayak launch towards hwy 71 bridge. He didn't catch any whites. He said he caught tons of guadalupe, black bass & perch but no whites. He uses river and/or glass minnows and has that advantage over most bait fishermen and most lure fishermen.

I think the WB are in the Pedernales, but not up at Reimers yet.?? Maybe they are staged in the river near the bridge or closer to lake Travis yet? T he Pedernales river is in good shape. There should be some WB in there. As good as that water looks, I guess mother nature has her own way and is on her own time with this. We can only wait and see. ...but no WB so far.

Curious... HL&S mentioned how the low water levels in lake travis over the past 5 years may affect the white bass population this year. this may be a sign that it has? On the other hand, the small sized black bass & perch population seems to be booming everywhere in Central TX. Any thoughts?

whertofish--- the walk from the top of the cliffs (parking area) to the river bottom is not far. You can drive all the way to the water and drop your gear and other fisherman, then drive back up the hill to park. However, your hike will begin and depend "where" you want to fish. a kayak, bass buggy, or jon boat can help overcome a lot of walking.

If you are out-of-shape like me. that could be an issue. but when the fish are in there, walking is worth it. coming back carrying a string of fish will be your issue then.

Tight lines!

I joined TFF today just to provide an update on this thread. I've been following yalls progress at Reimers here, and thought I'd contribute.

I went out yesterday (Sunday) from 8 - 1, bank fishing up and down. Caught a few undersized whites and a hybrid. Not much action otherwise. Oddly, the only thing that worked for me was a black and gold Panther Martin teardrop spinner. I lost it near the end, and never got another bite.

The lady working the Entry Station said the whites were just now starting to run. I wouldn't call <1 catch per hour a 'run', but I guess it's better than getting skunked.

Good luck out there. Would love to hear success stories, or what other lures/setups have worked for yall @ Reimers.

Thanks for the info. When you go down to the river from the parking area, is it better to follow the river to the left or the right and how long of a walk is it to a good spot?

Depends Wheretofish. Sometimes it doesn't matter left, right, or right there. Takes time just like what everyone else has put in. Not trying to be a you know what, but finding them on your own is what I always enjoyed.

thanks for sharing Hookem. that place is in too awesome shape right now to not have whites moving up in it. My neighbor has been skunked the past two times he's been there. So I've stayed away since my last trip. But, I'm looking forward to fishing there again soon.

tight lines.
