Guys,
Just curious. I have a Ford F150 Lariat, but no 4 wheel drive. I didn't even consider it when I was car shopping and am now wondering if this is going to be a problem pulling the boat up wet ramps? Anybody have any input? I only pull the boat to and from storage to charge batteries since I got the truck. With fishing season fast approaching, just wondering if I am going to have troubles.

Been driving a 2 wheel drive F150 for many years as well as owning a boat. Towed from Garland to Sam Rayburn and from Garland to Grand Lake in Oklahoma. Never needed it before so didn't get a 4 WD when I bought a new truck 6 months ago, however this has a locker w/LS my last two F150s were just LS. Unless your pulling a 40" yacht you'll be ok.

Just stay away from really steep ramps and you will be good to go. Even then if you have trouble, get 4 or 5 guys at the ramp to jump into the bed of the truck and you will be fine.

You got nothing to worry about.
If you start to spin less gas pedal is the answer, not more... all more gas will do is cost you new rear tires.

2 times I needed a 4wd on a ramp. Once was on Travis and ramp was very steep with lots of gravel. Truck did not have LS. The other time was same truck on Texoma at Island View. Ramp is fairly steep but pulling out bass boat was no problem but pulling a 30' cabin cruiser out required 4wd. You will be fine with what you have. Most of the newer trucks have LS if not a locker. Lockers on 2wds work well.

I would rather have 4wd but you can make it work. I have needed it multiple times during winter and also on ramps covered with moss

I've needed 4x4 a few times, but it's was on a steep and wet ramp, just stay away from steep and wet ramps you'll be fine. The size of the boat makes a huge difference.

If you have two people, you can always use your boat to push the truck out of the water on the ramp........

Just be glad if that ford makes it to the lake without dropping a coil.

Just be glad if that ford makes it to the lake without dropping a coil. I guess other brands never lose a coil?

My tow vehicle for 7 years was a Ford Explorer with 2WD. Never had a problem, even on slippery boat ramps. Just ease onto the gas pedal and gently roll it uphill.
