Had a fishing reel that the bail had come off on the pickup end. About a year old and used and abuse. Took it back to Academy and no questions asked just go get another one. Well it is discontinued so picked another similar. Get back to customer service and the girl says there is a price difference of a penny. I don't have a penny on me so the guy behind me pays the 1 cent. Good customer service and easy exchange. No receipt or anything just the reel.

My personal best is still swimming out there just getting bigger. One of these days I will quit feeding it.

They are good peeps. I knew one of their higher ups when he had a house on Granbury. They are all about making customers happy in hopes they will come back to buy more.

Discontinued, no receipt, price difference? Sounds like great service? Very few major chains like that.

Glad it worked out... Tried to buy a tripod deer stand last spring on clearance at Academy...Needed to run home and get truck to haul it (45 min round trip) ... Wouldn't even let me pay for it and hold it till I got back... "Not store policy"... Lost out on a good deal...oh well...

Love Academy. I do the same all the time without receipt and no questions! I have a pair of waders I paid $50 for a pair of waders and have exchanged them three times whenever I got a leak. Great service!

Love Academy!! I bought a Falcon Bucoo rod from there and didn't really inspect it like I should have and discovered when I went to put a reel on it that it was broken and someone had obviously returned it because they used a sharpie to color the broken part. I thought for sure I had lost that $130 but I took it back and told them what I found and they didn't even hesitate telling me to walk back and get another one.

Most of the time it will be held for 24 hrs.
