I am going to take my 12 year old on his first boat fishing trip on Sunday. Which lake do yall think I should take him to? I am thinking that I need to try to find a few spots to work something besides worms. Maybe crank baits or spinnerbaits. Fairfield is a big question for me. How do you fish a lake that is that warm. Lol. Thanks

Depending on the water temps at Fairfield they are likely to be in the pre-spawn or spawning mode. I would start in 8-12' with carolina rigs and then move in from there. Always good to throw a trap as well. Good luck!

Fairfield will most likely be prespawn this time of year, the fish should be biting. You can throw spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and squarebills along the reed lines or you can go to the SE arm, which is really shallow, and hit the stumps. There should, SHOULD, be active fish all over right now. That lake is really fun after a few months of fishing cold water. That would be my suggestion.

The forecast this weekend is winds of +15 mph, gusts in the 20s. Cedar Creek has a lot of fetch to it when on the open lake. You can fish in protected waters, but it'll be a bumpy ride.

My dad and I fished Fairfield 2 weeks ago and caught about 10 in 4 hours. Fished bank of discharge side moving south. Caught all of them flipping back as far as we could in the reeds.

I wish I could tell yall how the fishing was but a few hours in, I exploded the head on my trolling motor. Water temp was 76 degrees to the south of the boat ramp but there was a ton of green algae.

You might recheck that forecast.... Saturday is winds of 15-25 mph out of the SW with gusts over 40 MPH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sunday looks good.
