Going to be hitting up Texoma for the first time this weekend. I've been spending a lot of time looking at the navionics web app trying to decide where to start looking/fishing, but I'm hoping y'all can give me some general ideas to get me going in the right direction.

What kind of cover does the lake offer? From satellite, I don't see a lot of timber and I doubt there's going to be any grass.

I've got my eye on some humps around the islands NE of Highport, the big ridge between Treasure Island and the river, and I think I want to check out the areas where the river runs right up next to the bank in a couple of places on the east side of the lake, north of Eisenhower.

As always, not asking for your honey holes- just general advice for a first timer boater on Texoma and whether or not I'm on the right track.

Thanks!!!

Rock shoreline mostly. Deep water close to shore. Marinas usually good bet. If wind gets above 15mph it could get some big rollers. Hasn't been sounding like there's good water clarity so not sure how good the humps would be. I haven't fished it in years but always caught numbers in Highport Marina. When it's clear there secondary drops on edge walls that is awesome this time of year. To go place to place you gotta do a lot of running usually. Forecast up steady 15 sat and 25 Sunday. Take that into confederation where to launch to where you wanna fish. There is timber way up the lake in Oklahoma. And if all else fails go just a lite but up the road and fish Murray. Shoud be good smallmouth bite if water cleared up

I've been chewing at the bits to go there. Following weekend looks good to go if anyone wants to ride a long.

I would concentrate on pockets that are protected from the north wind with rock. Fish a jerkbait, a crankbait and a jig very slowly. I rarely have much luck fishing structure out in the middle of the mainlake. Look for the warmest water and you will find a few.

Thanks for the replies!! I'll let you know how we do- gonna be picking up some baits from brad before we go, hopefully. We should whack 'em if I can get a couple of his smallmouth specials 😀

Look for shallow rock shelfs than extend to deeper water. Bottom baits.

Next time I am on Texoma, I am going to try a Ned Rig. It works on other deep water, rocky shoreline lakes. Couldn't hurt.

Be safe,
