Is it normal for a 150 hp Merc Blk Max XR4 to smoke a little during idle?Pressure is normal and the boat runs great and gets up on plane fine.

It is normal..... it is burning oil in the gas, as intended.

Depends a lot on the type of 2 cycle oil you are using.

My 175 always has. Seems to smoke a little more when cold. My Polaris ATV smokes quite a bit when cold. I figure the oil injection pump dumps some oil in the bowl when I shut it down and runs rich for a while.

they all do, just some more than others... lotta things come inta play.. like said, oil type/mixture also age, carbs/fi, timing and etc... usually calms down some after it gets ta temp though....
