Nothing wrong with using Walmart hooks, or Academy hooks, or whoever's hooks. They are especially useful for someone learning to tie due to the low cost. However, very few people use them or talk about them due to the very limited hooks styles and sizes that are available. It is difficult to find anything smaller than a size 8 or anything other than a standard hook shape. So, that limits the variety of patterns that can be tied on them. (Although, for many panfish patterns, that doesn't matter much.) If you like them, then keep using them.

If you're happy with how they catch fish, with the price, then it's end of discussion.:)

I'm not sure I understand your last question, but yes, both Clouser's and wooly buggers can be effective in a variety of sizes.

If they work then use them. Nothing wrong with that
