Line visibility may not make much difference on moving baits, as someone mentioned A rigs as an example.

But to me, I think line visibility matters when fishing off shore and working something slow on the bottom.

why?
because for the increase in price, I and most people cannot tell "THAT" much of a difference... is it less visible?.. probably... is it more sensitive?.. yup
does it have less stretch? of course... the margin of these differences however are not significant enough to justify spending the money for me ..id rather spend it elsewhere...
Its somewhat of a gimmick... it does do all those things better than mono but not enough to make a difference to the average guy....

let me put it this way... you play golf 2 times a month and you have never had lessons... you shoot mid 80's every time you go out... is buying those super expensive set of clubs gonna make you any better at golf? nope...is buying the pro V 1 balls gonna help you? Not one bit...
do they help the pros? of course but their game is so zoned into microscopic details that the most tiny thing effects their game...
the average guy fishing out there doesn't get enough benefit to fishing FC over mono to justify the cost... just makes them feel a little more like a pro.. and that is called sales tactics....

I respectfully disagree. I believe fluoro, and I use InvizX, has helped me fishing and I used Big Game until about 3 years ago...and as far as the golf better equipment/balls did improve my game. None of this made me feel like a pro fisherman or pro golfer just helped me enjoy my hobbies better. I was in the plumbing business (not a hobby) for 40 years. Having the right tools made me more efficient and helped me do a better job. It's not about hype, it's what works for you.

In my opinion they rank like this

Seaguar Tatsu
Gamma Edge
Sunline Shooter
Bass Pro PLine
Seaguar Invisix

I just bought some 25lb Seaguar Tatsu, it appears that Seaguar Tatsu 25lb diameter is smaller in diameter than 20lb Seaguar Invisix.

Flouro will stretch just like mono. Sensitivity comes from it being a harder denser substance. A harder substance will transmit vibration better than a softer. Stretching flouro will actually weaken the line because it doesn't have the rubber band effect of regular mono. This doesn't mean not to use it but educate yourself on it. I use it with good results. The InvisX is a good line. Not all flouro is created equal. Just be careful with your knots and tie them slow so you don't burn it and check for nicks often. It has improved greatly since it's introduction but it's still flouro.

Go to a clear water high pressure lake like Athens. Fish the same bait on two rods one with flouro and one with big game, give them each equal time and see if it matters. I have done this and got more bites on flouro hands down. I started to use it on my shaky heads and anything I fish slow and caught some of my biggest fish to date last year. Confidence thing?? Maybe but could also be that what they advertise about visibility is true. I was and still am a 15lb. Big Game guy for most circumstances but for my slow baits going forward, I will use Fluorocarbon.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

All i know is that ever since I started using fluorocarbon the only thing that i can absolutely positively is that i have alot more break offs. I cant say that it has helped me catch more fish but I still drink the coolaid and have it on a few reels all the time. I know everyone will say it's probably my palomar knot or the way that I'm tying it or my hook set but fact of the matter is it's the same dang knot that i tie on big game and braid with no issues. I'm about to go back to strictly big game mono and braid because i have lost most of my confidence in fluorocarbon and I've tried a bunch of them.

I am a BIG FAN of COPOLYMER!!!!!! I have been using McCoy's Mean Green since 2000. It has a great many attributes that I like. It has almost NO MEMORY (compared to Big Game), it is STRONG as all get out (straightened #4 hooks on 17# test), it has great abrasion resistance and it is LONG LASTING! 3 years ago, I took a reels spooled with 17# test I used to use of Fork to Falcon. Didn't worry about it and caught a 9.17 lb bass on it. I bet NO OTHER line has been spooled for 8 years and could even CAST a lure.

I dislike FC because it feels like a dead line to me. COPOLY is NOT mono and FC combined, UNLESS IT SAYS SO!!! McCoy's Mean Green is made with mono and silicone. Let's debunk a fallacy that FC gets deeper than mono. A test was done in 2014 testing this series in a clear tank. They tested several kinds of FC and mono and found the AVERAGE, using the same pound test, was 3" deeper. So, unless you need another 3", it is a fallacy that it runs deeper. I think it was Rapala or another CB company that did the test. THAT is why they did not change their depth of testing on 10# test.

I use copoly for all my moving baits and on my T-rig/jig rod. On my C-rig, I use Big Game as my main line and McCoy's Mean Green as my leader, since it floats. I hope this helps.

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Thad Rains

And as said above, if you don't want to change and use what has worked for you, do so, but you have to change your line about every other month.

tr

BTW, I am NOT on McCoy's Mean Green pro staff, or ANY LINES pro staff.

Lead weights on Mono, Copolymer and Flouro there really is not much difference... put a tungsten weight on there and the Flouro rocks

I would concur with sticking with what you have confidence in. However if you cannot feel the difference between mono and FC with regard to what your bait is doing, you have no feeling in your hands. LOL
