From what I have heard, Tuckers Landing is no longer available for staying there or launching a boat. Wanted to see if anyone had recommendations for other places on Caddo. Would be for a group of 6 to 8 guys, we had been staying at Tuckers for the last 15 years.

the time frame we usual go is in March for a week.

Thanks

I've stayed here maybe four times over the years. Boat ramp right there. Small restaurant but I think it is only open for breakfast and lunch. Clean rooms nice folks.

They have several houses you can rent. Enough room for your party.

I appreciate all the response, still checking, finding the dates in March hard to come by. Wonder why we always booked a year in advance for the next trip. smile

I like Shady Glade also. Not the Ritz but decent place. Area of the lake I prefer also. Upper lake and easy access into the river.

Shady Glade has always been my choice. Good accommodations, launching area and resturant.

Is Crip's gone forever? The last time I drove through there it looked like it was done. Will they be opening back up?

Stayed @ Shady Glade a couple months ago. Drove over to Crips and it looked boarded up tight. Really did not look to run down or anything...just closed. End of an era.

That is sad. I drank a lot of beer on the porches of those cabins. It was always fun to catch gar at the cleaning table too.

I first went to Caddo with my boy scout troop back in the mid 1960's. haven't been in the last 7-8 years due to the salvinia outbreak, but the last time I went it had not changed in the last 50 years.

I second the shady glade comments, but can you get in and out there because of the weed problems? many years ago I stayed at Johnson's camp; very, very basic, but easy access to the deeper water.

I miss the old lady, but before I go again, I want to make sure the salvinia problem has been controlled.

Launching at shady glade would not be a problem. I haven't seen Gary from Crip's or heard what is going on there. Salvinia is going to be there from now on. Apparently the weevils are working to some extent. This long run or higher water is doing the most good. As long as I can get to my bream bed, its good.

I was there in April of last year and did not have any problem going anywhere I wanted to go. That being said, there may be some problems during the summer when the water gets warmer and stops flowing through.

I miss Crips too! I heard that it sold and the new owners were going to move all of the old cabins out and build something else there. That was about two years ago and ain't nothing happened yet, so that may not have been good info. They were the last reasonable priced place to stay on the lake. If you don't mind paying $125.00 to $250.00 per night there is a lot of choices in and around Uncertain. Shady Glade may be slightly less than that on some of their options.
