I usually cover it with koser salt and leave outside in sun during summer time makes it dry to use on single hook .

That's all I've ever done. I'll put it under the hot sun for about an hour, then turn the pieces over and give them another hour. Just be sure and put a screen over the livers so housecats won't get them.
