I am working on a little project of mine where I take and map out points, flats, and other major structure points of interest on a lake ... along with mapping out the creeks. I am using a variety of databases to combine this info down and then create a file that can be put on a memory card and loaded into your Lowrance map... I have Lowrance so that's why I am making it in Lowrance form but could figure out what type of files would be needed for hummingbird I am sure...

so I am not looking to sell this or anything but think that many people esp people that are new to bass fishing or just got their first boat would enjoy having some point of interest along with major creeks put into their map on their graph so that they can go right to the GPS marker and not get out a paper map and try and triangulate their position.....
I want 4 or more people to figure out what lake you want mapped out... let me know and I will work on it in the coming week or weeks depending on how big the lake is.. then Ill email you guys the files... you can load them into your Lowrance and then I want feedback
Feedback as in the accuracy of the GPS locations and if you feel that if was a valuable tool to have...
Thanks
JD

I have been working with a guy who has something similar called Spot On. It has GPS locations of just about every common structure and fish habitat way points. You plug in the SD card and it will locate these structure with a description of the structure being a bridge, brush pile or rock pile, hump. Good points of interest. Should help a lot of people in locating some stuff with in the lake. I know the first one is of Lake Fork. I hope we can get it out by spring.

Marc
That's sounds awesome and much more in depth then what I am doing
I am simply mapping out very obvious points of interest... Points humps, saddles, creek channels...
Not really verified hot spots rather common points of interest that would be community type spots... A roadbed mapped out that most know about but the new guy doesn't know exactly where it is...
More or less some general waypoints to get people started...
That's why I wouldn't dare charge for it

Are you looking for lakes that don't currently have topo information on Navionics and/or Lakemaster? Or are you graphing over potential areas to verify/correct what's on the current maps?

Lakes like fork and other very popular lakes have very extensive topo maps...
I probably wouldn't focus on those but many smaller lakes don't have much
Take Martin creek lake near Tatum
It has a martins map but it's pretty old and outdated .... Navionics only covers half the lake and it's not really that good
But I've gone into the entire lake and mapped out all the creeks in all the coves going out to deep water
Mapped all underwater humps deep points and any structure I can find that looks like good spots that would hold fish... All this out to 10-15 feet of water... I am not graphing over all the areas just my home lakes to confirm the data I already believe to be true from multiple other sources of data... I combine all that I have and create way points and creek lines that can be emailed then download to a memory card and uploaded straight into a graph... They are not hot spots and especially don't have personal knowledge that these spots even hold fish... But when I look on my graph I can immediately see what points run out around me ... Underwater humps... Creeks ...
I never have to get out a map.. Just look at my chart page on my graph and I know generally what's around me... I'm not coming up with any secret spots to fish only trying to make the information already out there easy to put on your graph...
