Has anyone paddled Kings Creek on the north end of Cedar Creek Lake for a white bass run? It's been a long time since the water level was high enough to reach that end of the lake.

That makes two of us! Seems like great water - I'm giving it a try one way or another next month.

When you guys are ready to go, post an invite. I went a few years ago and the action was insane!

I've been eyeing this creek too. Definitely interested in a good launch spot. I'm hoping it's far enough away from the big city to not have too many bank fishermen to yak.

The 274 overpass is probably the easiest launch point if it hasn't rained in the preceding days. You can get a truck down towards the water a good ways if it's dry - otherwise it's a 100 yard walk from the pavement/gravel. There are usually some bank fishermen right there and a couple trails lead East toward the main lake, which is about a mile away from the bridge. To the West it is all private property so being in a small boat is the only way to fish it. It's 45 minutes from downtown Dallas but I think most of the bank angler are locals.

Bear, i think u nailed it. Sandies will run this yr. I am predicting an early run! Someone Please post an invite. Better to fish in a group down there IMO. I bet all the good bank spots will b more than crowded. jonboats yaks and canoes will be able to fallow the run. Ive see bass boats in kings creek but that was many moons ago. Audee, you u can b my pointman If youll let me b a wingman.

I'd be up for a group sandbass run. I'm only 20 minutes from the 274 bridge. Yeah that is the only put in along the creek...otherwise you gotta launch at the Tolosa ramp and paddle up in to the creek from the main lake.
I agree...fishing west of the 274 bridge = no bank fishermen

Sounds like we have a quorum. I'm planning to spend at least the weekend of Feb 27 down there weather permitting.

I would like to hit it again this year. Checked it out last year. No fish but a great place to kayak. It was a bit muddy at the bridge so that's a concern.

Is it an easy launch, or does it drop off deep quickly?

Is it an easy launch, or does it drop off deep quickly? It was fairly steep when I went, but the level was down from what it is now. I managed to get my PA14 in and out without too much trouble. The road going in is fairly steep at one point.

Sounds like we have quite a few interested. Maybe make some plan to hit kings creek the week after Valentine's day?
