Awesome idea. Thanks for taking the time to make the video and share your ingenuity. I do a lot of drifting for winter time blues and these will work perfectly.

Deep clear water...whomever made that video isn't from around here. The only thing I can say is 4 ounces is a little much.

Right, I'm from Alabama. The point is it catches fish, and you can make them to any weight you want. All I'm doing is experimenting, learning and sharing the results. If it works for you, fine. I'm not saying you have to do things my way. You're not me, and you're not fishing the conditions I fish. Do whatever works for you. If you can take something from what I've said, change it to better fit you, then do so.

It is a good video and a cool idea go use the electrical conduct and the BBs. I often heard of using shot but BBs are at every Wal-Mart. For handlines 4 ounces makes sense.

These are what I use for drifting.. 8 1/4oz egg weights with a swivel on one end. Just slide the swivel on main line then attach leader.

We cut green, camouflage or black nylon cord, pull the guts then place BB shot inside and seal the end with a lighter when drift fishing rivers for steelhead up north.

The idea is the weight doesn't clink or thud on rocks and looks more natural than lead.

I've added beads to my leaders.. Just above the cork and I'm not saying I get more bites.. But I get just as many. Added rattle doesn't hurt anything. I mean there's a cork about 6 inches above the above the hook. I think all they care about is the smell of the bait. Gotta remember the rig is sometimes 60ft below the surface, there's not exactly a lot of sunlight down there. The fish aren't seeing much.
