Anyone know if lake raven is open or fished ot recently? The one in huntsville state park. Thank you

Yes it is open but fishing is real slow. water is muddy and there is no grass thanks to the great folks at TPWD spraying and introducing carp.

Took the yak out there about a week ago to fish a jig around all the lay-downs I could find. No bites all day, so I switched to cranking deeper cover and still got nothin'. Only way I've found to have any decent chance of success is to throw a frog once the pads fill in.

Raven is a difficult lake, but can be immensely rewarding, if you are ok with one bite. I suggest throwing very large baits that displace a lot of water, big heavy duty rods, and lots of patience.
