Can the crappies be caught in creeks this time of year? Even on days like Today when it's below freezing?

I've been putting a lot of research and time into learning more about Rowlett Creek this year, but the reports are still poor so far. Anyone have a creek north of Dallas that could be fished from the bank for Crappie? I'm not looking for gps coordinates, just a general idea. Thanks.

I've beat RC up and down for several yrs...I've done ok but not near what I see from others' reports.

Just look for creeks off of the lakes you're willing to travel to, look for parking then only thing you have to do when you get there is find the fish. Not every trip will produce fish, but that's why its called scouting. Sooner or later you'll have an abundance of creeks you can fishing during the fall/winter months

Sooner or later you'll have an abundance of creeks you can fishing during the fall/winter months I hear the Google Earth suggestion a lot however I feel like the majority of the people fishing these creeks were probably just told spots to check out and not told to "GOOGLE IT". A lot of time the images from Google Earth don't show you how dang difficult the spot may be to get to, or if the water is even still there. I understand the scouting part, but a lot of people just want to go fish and might not have that much time to go scout. I know folks don't want their spots crowded so I kind of get the "Go look at Google Earth" reply, but DANG just hook a brotha up with a spot or two to get some deliciousness!!! LOL JZ

Here is my view on that JZ. I am speaking only from my opinion and viewpoint. I am all for helping people out but there is a differnce between people that just want to take a shortcut and catch a lot of fish and the people that actually want to learn how to go out and find them. The creek that I know the most is one that I have put YEARS into figuring out so I am not going to just tell anyone to go to this spot and put your line here. Besides that.. I think 95 % of the fun of catching creek fish is when you find them stacked up on your own with no help. Xavier is right. Google Earth will tell more than you think about a certain creek. As for the water levels.. the level of the lake will tell you everything you about a certain creek. Hope this makes sense out of Xaviers post.

Like I said I see both sides, and as a whole I find that Crappie fishermen are more willing to help than others for sure. I enjoy learning how to target and where to look, which is why a suggestion here or there is important. I for one attend seminars, read forums, ask questions, and look at Google Earth. I know what to look for, it would just be nice to have a bone thrown at ya as to where to look! Especially for people who didn't grow up fishing creeks (I am an offshore convert, creeks are WAY new to me! LOL)

I like finding creeks on Google and scouting them. Worst part is getting there and seeing the dreaded "no trespassing" sign. It can really put a damper on the trip. Especially after driving far out. Anyone have a good way to check on that before driving out to a location.
