I take a vacation in the hill country around this time every year, staying in a cabin on a creek that feeds in to the Colorado river. The first year, I slaughtered the crappie. Ever since then, six years now, it's been minimal. I caught one big crappie in three days this year, applying everything I've learned here and elsewhere. I feel like they are here, but I can't get them going. I've pounded structure, varied depth and color, used hand tied and plastics, scents, nibbles, under spins, floats, you name it. Anybody has suggestions, I would greatly welcome it. Fishing from bank, creek is generally 6 feet deep at deepest, highland lakes area of hill country.

I did catch a nice Guadalupe bass today though.

I fished Lake Tyler yesterday and I couldn't get them to take anything. I've about decided not to waste time going after a front passes through and the forecast is clear skies with light and variable winds.

maybe take a walk down the creek and look for a little deep hole, bend, ledge, ect where baitfish might be holding. maybe a logjam , laydown log, trashmate, .
what is it exactly that makes you think they are there where you are?

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Its a relatively small creek, with a few deep spots/structure, and if there is one crappie, there have got to be more. There are always baitfish in the creek as well, plus there is a fountain at the start of the creek so there will always be flowing/slightly warmer water. It looks like a crappie goldmine, but I can't find the gold.

Thanks, used a 1/32 primarily. Tried 1/64 briefly as well.

Is it better to work under a bobber in creeks, or cast and retrieve?

I think this is the main problem. We are expecting a small front tomorrow that will have them messed up for a few days.
