I have custom boat cover on my boat but live out in country next to a big field. Wanna make sure and keep critters out and chewing up stuff in boat. Any suggestions.

Rat snake.
Or, you could use moth balls.

Is the field yours or someone else's? I've learned with my old 1800s family farm that keeping grass/fields cut reduces the local population of vermin to begin with.Secondly, I use a deterrent device available from Harbor Freight. That may not be an option if you get near the boat much when you don't plan to use it as when set high-level like it needs to be, it's unpleasant to human ears also.

No it's someone else's. Not sure my dogs would like that sound. I'll do the mouth balls. I just hate the smell.

Rick, I use moth balls too. I haven't had a critter yet (knock on fiberglass). I took two old dog food bowls and pour some moth balls (10 or so) in each. I place one on the bow and one on the rear decking. Depending on your situation, you may want to use four - one at each corner of boat. They are placed under the boat cover.

They have a spray you can get at feed store can't remember the name, ask they will know what you want. It's funny name but it works. It's better than mothballs ,my opinion.
