In the market for a new crappie rod! I had a 7' rod but this year I think I want to bump to an 8' rod. I noticed BoneHead Tackle here on the forum has a nice 8' rod but its two piece. Any opinions out there from someone who has gone through some crappie rods?

You don't need to spend more than $45 for a good 8' rod. Visit Pro Angler Tackle and you can get any length of crappie rod you want. Ed's products and service are second to none. Free shipping too!

Thanks Chris! However, I'm only seeing the 8' rod in a two piece option. Are 8' one piece rods even made?

I'm not sure on the Pro Anglers. I like the 2pc so if I break the tip I can buy just the top 1/2 of the rod.

The Pro Anglers, Bonehead and G-Rods in 8 ft are two piece. Hard to find an 8 ft one piece rod. There are 8 ft one piece rod blanks by Batson, St Croix, and G-Loomis I believe, but you'll have to get a custom one made. Wondering why you prefer a one piece?

Pro Angler if you are watching your budget; G-Rod if you want to spend a little. I actually prefer the 8' Pro Angler over the 8' G-Rod. Got a 10'6" G-rod that is pretty darn awesome. All these will be two piece rods I believe, which is probably a good thing if you wanna put them in the rod box at the end of the day...

I have just never cared for them for some reason. I mean if I have to get a 2 piece then I'll have to get a two piece. I'm open to options!

I love my PA rod. I'm sure the boneheads are great too, just haven't fished with one yet. I've said it before but, a bite on a pro angler feels like a grenade going off in your hand.

Check out the strike at 19 seconds. I whiffed the first time.

I'll add though, that I'm using Bonehead WHITE braid with my ProAngler rod. I REALLY wish they'd make it in white again.

I fish two bonehead two piece 8 foot rods. They are super sensitive and I catch a lot of fish on them. My only problem is the tips break if you are not careful with them. I also have pro angler but prefer bonehead.

One piece 8'ers are expensive. Chris gave you good advice on ProAnglers. Best bang for your buck. I fish St Croixs because I bought them along time ago but they are 7'. I have used ProAnglers and if I had it to do over again I would buy their 8 and 10 footers. Very sensitive rod with lots of backbone. Get the cork handled ones though. Ed is the best ever at Customer Service too.

Not to knock pro angler rods at all but the G-Rods are the best I have ever put my hands on with the graphene technology it makes them lighter, more sensitive, and more back bone than any rod on the market. Yes they are more money but in my opinion are superior to all other rods. Like I said I'm not knocking other rods I have fished with them all. This is my opinion.

I like G rod myself. I have a 9', caught lots crappies, white bass. it's light, sensitive, and strong back bone. I also use it for big hybrids.

I've got a pro angler 8' rod. I like it ok. I prefer my TFO 7' rod over any of the ones I have. St Croix is right there with it. 45 isn't a lot and you can catch with it for sure. However, the more you spend the more sensitive and lighter the rod rod gets. If you fish all day it can be worth the extra money. I don't spider rig so I like a lighter, more sensitive rod. If you spider rig then go for the PA.
