my trip up north literally got washed away due to heavy rains. so now its a mad scramble to fill my 4 days off with FISH! I need all the help I can get with where to go in texas. I know below canyon lake but that's about it. anywhere below the lake? does texas offer any other spots for trout? im not really interested in the ponds stocked by tpw, looking for something a little more remote.

There may be a tailrace or two that is year-round stocked. Heading up to Arkansas' White River would be my best bet!

Never mind, it's high and muddy!

Frio River, Garner State Park - may be your only other true option.

Not sure about where they stock in Bob Sandlin SP, or if the PK tailrace is worth trying.

Drive up and fish the Brazos River below Possum Kingdom Lake. It's a little high right now due to above average releases from PK but a friend said it was still very fishable right now. The Guadalupe River below Caynon Lake is the only sustainable year round trout fishery in Texas but for put and take trout fishing the Brazos is a fun trout fishing river. Plus for a rejuivated striper fishery due to the recent floods below the dam: catch some of those little stocker trout, put them on a larger hook and launch them up towards the dam.....JK. Launch a big trout looking swimbait towards the dam!

Guadalupe River from Rio Raft Co. all the way down to Rocky Beach. Both are on the Guadalupe in Comal County off of River Road!

Hence the " JK" after my statement. Actually know more about this story than most. I lived in Cedar Hill back when an infamous trout wielding striper guide drove around town towing an airboat before leaving to catch huge(record) stripers below the dam. Small world. I live directly on the Brazos now and he guides from much smaller boats. :-) The trout fishing is good right now below PK and the after the past years floods the striper fishery is back.
