Gotta say this deadstick season so far has been the quietest in years on the forum! I mean the reports have been quiet! What gives? Lol

JV and I fished with Gene Friday for a full day, 9am to sunset on Gene's awesome red fishing machine. We fished many spots, looked hard and managed only 3 good hybrids and about 30 to 40 sandies, and a 5# green fish . JV schooled us all lol. The hybrids caught were our RHSA stocking from 2013, they are fatty 20 to 22 inches now. They were 16" last winter. Our auto thumpers worked like a champ, fish followed us but very few takers out deep in 40+ fow.

Our best spots were at points in 34 fow where fish were closer to the bottom. The fish moved in in waves. Most fish caught on small flukes and small slabs.

We think the higher waters and the lavon gates being opened has to do with the slow catching cuz we are in prime deadstick, easy catching season? Lol. Smaller pockets of bait balls are in many areas of the lake. Just curious is everyone experiencing the same behaviors at your lake? Water temp was around 50 degrees.

Anyway, hope this report will help some folks. I haven't had a grand slam, deadsticking catching at the home lake this year yet. Some pics for the report...it's fishing. ....good luck guys! smile

Great report Todd! I've only been out 4 times or so since early December. Been lucky to do pretty well dead sticking so far on those trips. Got MLK Monday off so I will be out on the lake all day. Taking my schools SRO police officer out so I hope the fish cooperate for us. Let me know if any of y'all are out there Monday and I'll let ya know how I did....

Nice report. I think its been tough with high lake levels and closed ramps. At least for me. RR and LL is my go to spots. Hopefully levels will come down and we can at least get out of the here and try.

Your report has got me itching to try Hubbard. I have not wet a hook since the Christmas rains. My three lakes are virtually shut down for the near future. Another LL regular and I are planning a Hubbard trip on maybe Wednesday of this week. Wish us luck! I doubt if our results will match you and your bunch Todd.

Yes the Bobo's and SPT thumpers were thumping! Lol
The former Dallas Mavs player, Sean Marion, his mansion is under construction on hubbard and our thumpers were louder lol.

You are just too modest Don. Let us know if you need pointers. We haven't done that great but tomorrow may be a new day lol

seems like the fish in the deep water are not cooperating, most fish are being caught at the 26 to 34 ft depth. Afternoon evening bite seems to be better than the morning as well, This time last year at Lewisville we were catching fish on deep water at like 40 plus depths, this year those fish seem to be lock jawed. could have been the changing winds thursday night though.

I only fish on days that end in Y!

Thanks for the LL info, Ben. Same for hubbard, the afternoon reports have been better. The 3 hybrids caught were at 2pm and also a more active group of fish under us about that time. The deeper ones are still finicky for sure. But plenty of fish are still in the lake grin
