I know you want to make long cast so it can get deep. Do you put backing on your deep cranking reels?

Yep, full of 12-15lb Big Game. Why would I consider backing?

Why mono instead of Fluoro? Do you use mono on all you reels?

I use a graphite crank rod, I think the stretch in the mono is completely okay. its cheap. it casts well. its no big deal if I backlash it and no, I only use mono on my crankbait and topwater setups.

Sometimes I wonder how I wore the paint off so many crankbaits catching bass after bass for so many years.....when all I had was Trilene XL or XT mono! ..... Those 100 fish days were in spite of my mono-handicap, too. I moved up to copolymer eventually - went high-tech! The hype and cost of line is more about catching fishermen than fish, I think.

I run straight 12 pound Invisx with no backing, for CB rods.

Do yal really cast that far? That yal use all that line? I use backing on all rods. When I launch a 10xd6xd Etc. I have never launched it far enough to get to my backing?? And I can launch em pretty far. Bb1 pro 6.4.1 is reel of choice.

+1

Dobyns Champion 805 paired up with a Lews BB1, 12# Invizx will cast a DD22 or a 6XD a long long way. I tried the same set up with a copolymer line but I liked using fluorocarbon better.

Red label is cheap enough for me that I don't mess with backing on my CB reels and the line will last for a long time... I just use line conditioner and stretch it every few trips.

Red label 12 pound, Dobyns 805 and lews reel, I can cast almost a mile. It's been a great set up for me.
