I use a palomar knot but it is only good for fish up to 15 pounds.

I've never had the Trilene knot fail with any line when tied properly.

LOL, how do you know? It might work on bass over 15, you just need to get one on the line.

I use a Palomar also but as an added bonus I tie a regular overhand knot in the tag end before I cut off the excess.

Double Clinch also known as The Trilene Knot. It's 100% in the Knot Wars.

The doubled uni is all I tie; except when flipping, then I tie the doubled snell

The doubled pitzen/double San Diego Jam/Jimmy Houston knot is another good one

I usually tie a Uni knot to terminal tackle, but if you are tying on a really big lure with treble hooks looking for a finger to jab, A San Diego Jam is a very simple knot. Both test high.

But, here is a knot, the Power Knot that I think combines the best attributes of the slip knot family: clinch, uni, San Diego, etc. with the actual "knot" in a Palomar (around the hook). And, because it is doubled, it also means, like the Palomar, it has two lines supporting it as it passes through the hook eye. That's like chinning with two fingers instead of one.

I haven't seen it tested against others except someone on another forum said it beat all others successfully tying Gliss, another notoriously poor line for holding knots.

So, to summarize, it is: doubled including through the hook eye (support), it has the multiple wraps that slip up tight (friction), and the bight slips over and around the terminal tackle (a true knot).

And, importantly, it is very easy to tie.

Brad
