Man honestly when it was about 30 degrees outside, I was throwing a topwater plug out and was killing em. But it was in a pond..and I threw it a bunch...

I have won a number of tournaments on my Custom Spook in cold water as long as there was pods of grass still along the shallows. It didn't matter if they were brown during the winter, just something for the bass to hang around.

I'll throw a buzzbait when the water reaches 52-54 in the late winter/early spring but that's about as cold as I will go.

Lucky Craft Gunfish 95 If you get a stretch of days where it's warm or if the day you're fishing gets a lot of sun, you can get right in a hurry when throwing a topwater. I like the gunfish because it's natural and subtle. Nothing is very lively in cold water; kinda sluggish and easy-going. This bait really shines in those situations. It has a unique skimming action that drives fish crazy and it holds up well to the abuse.

Rick Clunn says it is NEVER too cold to throw a buzzbait. He has proved it on many occasions as well. I have caught topwater fish in previous years in 42-44 degree waters. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I never do and I am sure I stop topwater way too early. The only topwater I threw last year was a buzz bait. I really need to mix it up but when they are biting it I don't want to change.

What if you are fishing a powerplant lake and the wind is blowing 10-15 mph out of the north? the North wind seems to effect the top bite for me anyway. Wondering what everyone else experience was.

Greg Hackney says as soon as the water hits 50 Degrees he keeps a frog and buzz bait! on the deck of his boat. and it pays off in the right conditions

I just don't have enough confidence throwing topwater unless water is in 60's. Maybe I need to change

A few years ago on Granbury I saw a guy smoke them on a buzzbait while it snowed. Opened my eyes for sure.

I throw my Yellow Magic all year long. That's how I earned my nickname.

Buzz baits can be killer on warmer sunny days

The spook on a calm morning has always done good for me when we are talking topwater cold water!
