...would you tell anybody where it was caught?
I would not, because there is enough fishing pressure already. I would take photos and weigh, but then release at the same spot. I would never release the name of the lake.

Present state record was taken on a minnow.
I would tell and then hope the TFF in Athens gives me a job since I am the Texas State Record holder
If I caught it I would donate it Cabela for a year and then put it back in it's home lake.
I wouldn't let TPWD touch it, I suspect it would die with a "Broken Jaw" Syndrome.........

I'd kill it. Maybe have some replicas made of it off the mold too. And I'd tell everyone where I caught it, depending on the lake of course.

I'd tell you what I caught it on after I got all my bids from the lure manufacturers

Of course turn it in. No guarantee that fish will live another month naturally anyway. It's not like its a 3yr old fish.

I'd announce it and what lake it came from. Might provide a little boost to the local businesses from increased traffic to the lake.

Get it certified, pics and measurements for a good replica, and put it back. Maybe reap a few rewards from manufacturers on what I caught it on and equipment. I don't think a state record will get that much attention from big brands.

If I caught a bass that I suspected may be a new Texas record largemouth, I would have two choices. One would be to release the fish where I caught it after weighing with my scale and taking a picture. Another option would be to get the weight certified which would reveal to everyone which lake I caught the bass on. I will make the decision at the time, if it ever happens.

I'd tell everybody what, how and where on Lavon it came from
you know, nothing wrong with seven men who met on the internet going for a swim together

I'd turn it to TPWD lunker program thus recording the location, go home, lock myself in my garage, make the most ridiculous looking expensive to make lure ever seen, name it "The Lou R.", then call the lure makers stating that I'm taking sealed bids for its' endorsed manufacture. .......this thread isn't permanent is it?

I'd give it to the TPWD if it could be used as a sharelunker then see who gave me the best deal to put it in their aquarium. Still shocks me to see all the hate for the TPWD, I don't think the fishing would be worth a hoot if it wasn't for their management.
