Winter time is here and so are the winter time fishing patterns. Large Bluegill,Redear,Bass,Crappie, and Rainbow Trout, are usually the winter time targets. Myself and Mike "USMC-GY" fished the Guadalupe River from 9am till 2pm and got a limit of Rainbows and a HUGE Bass! Mike nailed a nice Bass over 21 inches in length and weighted in the 7 lb range. This was Mike's last cast of the day. The Bass was caught using a minnow with a float technique. The trout were caught with Gulp corn colored baits and orange colored Berkley trout worms. Worms were used with a bottom technique on the Bluegill/Redear. The trout were caught at the ends of currents. The Bass was caught in a boat slip in 8 feet of water. All fish were released with the exception of the trout. They will be fried later this week! The sunnies were located at the ends of docks in 10 to 14 feet of water. Targeting some super fish during the winter time. It just don't get any better! fish

Awesome thumb

You guys are really taking it to them.

At least I didn't have to see Mike holding a trophy crappie this time. roflmao

You guys kill me. Y'all have caught more species of trophy fish off bluegill bait and lures than anyone I have ever known. Such is the skill I hope to possess one day.

Congrats

Thanks Curtis and Mark for the replies. cheers Curtis: Redear and Sunfish in general have been very hard to come by these past couple of weeks. hide2 With the change of water levels due to Dam maintenance on the river lakes, past flooding, resulting in washed away brush piles, and unstable weather patterns all have made it harder to locate the sunnies. hammer Still looking for em. peep Have not caught any Redear these past two weeks. bang Sunfish in general have been hard to come by also. taz

Side Note: At least the stocked trout have stepped in and are supplying some SUPER action during the SLOW period of the sunfish year! clap

Nice fishing guys! Good job as always. So far a pretty mild winter. Seems the gills are hard to find. Have not seen any sunfish post? What is up?

Side Note: Awesome bass USMC-GY!

Still have not gotten any good numbers on Sunfish. Been catching plenty of Crappie! Far east side 18 to 25 feet of water under tree overhangs. Also brush piles are holding good numbers.
