None that I know of. They show up on every trip we go out.

They can be targeted, if you hire a captain and tell em what you really want to catch they can put you in likely areas such as weed lines shrimp.boats and anything floating offshore. Real fun to catch and even better to eat

Take a trip to the Florida Keys and there are plenty of guides who will target dolphin.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

In my limited experience fishing off of the Texas coast I have not seen any boats specifically target Dorado. There might be some that troll around hoping to catch a Dorado but they are probably really just throwing up a hail mary and seeing what shows up. I have seen Dorado caught but not with enough regularity or numbers to target them consistently. It's kinda like fishing for Ling, you will see a few but they are really a nice bonus fish if you can catch one. There are some places that do catch them on a much more regular basis like in Central America and off the coast of Florida. A couple of years back there was a HUGE school near one of the floaters that we regularly fish for Tuna and those guys killed them but that sort of action is rare around here.

We caught a few nice ones on the pacific side in cabo san Lucas. It was nice because we were only about a mile off the beach.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for that fishing trip?
