My Hobies are great on lakes and in the salt but when I'm on a river I'm always jealous of my buddy's Native Ultimate with a rudder. It's stable, lightweight and has a lot of storage. Being lightweight means a lot when you're having to drag through shallows or portage. A rudder is a must though.

any decent made 12' its brand preference, I have a 14' cuda and its to big some times I wish I had a 12' when on the Brazos or Bosque rivers. Turing the big boat can be annoying in tight spots.

I use a 135 as my primary river boat, but have paddled Cuda 12s and Cruises plenty on the Brazos. All good river boats. A Rick mentioned, the Cudas are a little tippy getting in and out of them, but overall a stable river boat.
