Any body ever fish Joe pool, it's close to the house but I don't ever see too many posts about it, wondering if anybody ever fishes it

I fish it when it's open and just planning on a half day and only during the week. Won't go near it in the summer time.

I fish it every week, weather permitting. It is a great fishery, but it does get crowded in the summer. The crappie are numerous, but tend to be small. So do the channel cat. The bluegill are large, as are the bass. The carp are large and full of fight.

Well I haven't fished it for crappie because when i fished at the Weatherford crappie house each time an undersized crappie was caught a good number of people would say-- Joe Pool...Joe Pool. Those were mostly land bound anglers so they would have probably been fising the crappie house at Joe pool. I would think that one with boat access would have a highher rate of success with crappie of more size.

BINGO!! thumbYou are correct sir.At JP I have had much success away from those stale Crappy houses! Yes I said CRAppy. In the winter time Walnut Creek has been Excellent for me for Crappie and in the spring Soap & Mountain Creek have delivered for Crappie & Sandies from the banks with a very looooong B&M jigging pole 2cents

They don't call them Joe Pool specials for nothin'. Seriously, you can have success both out on the water (have JP Guide Service take you out at least once to learn) and in the creeks. The crappie barges and slips can also productive as well. I wouldn't write Joe Pool off as a dead end, but you're going to have to put the work in to figuring out the seasonal patterns and locations, especially from the bank.

Cedar Hill State Park is closed for day use, open for camping only. Joe Pool Marina is closed due to flood damage last year. Only boat owners can go to the marina and they must be on a special list to go. Joe Pool Marina Fishing barge is closed.

The last time I checked all the launch ramps at the State Park were closed, I would call and check before going.

Lynn Creek Marina Fishing Barge is open, the launch ramp is closed.
