One of the biggest issues I see with electronics is the requirement to have a graph at the console and a graph at the bow. Lot's of people trying to figure out the right combination.

If someone would make a graph with a quick connect, people could get away with purchasing the biggest unit/units they could afford and only purchase the transducer/gps/mount for both console and bow. This would be especially beneficial for me since I fish alone a lot of the time. IF it was simple to push a button, release, insert into new mount, I could have a larger unit than I currently have.

One other suggestion would be an extendable mount that could be raised up about 3 feet. This way, I could see better detail on the graph while sitting in the front seat or standing up fishing.

What are some additional suggestions that people would like to see?

I have a Humminbird 1199 and it has a one piece connection that is simple to detach and reattach to the unit just get you extra ball mount for front of boat and a troll motor transducer and problems solved.

Is that the one that has about 3-4 individual connectors and has a metal screw to attach? I have an 898 now with the same connector. Unscrewing that screw and putting it back in takes a bit of time on mine and you have to make sure the screw is fairly tight. It's a step in the right direction, but still a bit more cumbersome than I would like to see. The other issue with moving is the black screws for the mounting bracket that have to be almost completely loosened and tightened back.

What I would love is a snap in place, push button release.

With my luck when I detached it from the console I would drop it into the lake.

I use a 6" ram mount on my console with Humminbird 899, I can adjust to see from anywhere in boat. Years ago you could connect two transducers with switch to one unit. Worked pretty well.

i run 11 series humminbirds that have an easy detach system. just squeeze the sides of the cable keeper and it pulls right out but with a unit that size i would allocate a little bit of extra cable with a ram mount and pivot the screen around. better than possibly dropping the bird overboard although they float.

the wifi option that lowrance has on the gen 3 units is pretty cool. they should release a graph with power only and a wifi connection. that would be cool.

The industry doesn't want any solution like that. The manufacturers had rather sell each boat at least two, and hopefully THREE, units at huge mark-up instead of one. Add to that $5 cables sold at 10x markup, etc.

The simple solution would be a "processing unit" that looks much like a Lowrance StructureScan module. Transducers and sensors would attach to this, and it would use an inexpensive wireless network to communicate with your display head that could be easily moved around the boat. Because of power requirements for the day-viewable screen, you would need a power connection, but that's really about it.

All the technology pieces required to do this have existed for some time - at very affordable cost points. The fact is such a solution would eviscerate their revenue and specialty-market margins, and that's counter to what their investors want. No one supplier is worried that another will make such a move because that would end the gravy-train for all of them.

No the 1100 series cable collector is cube shaped and does not have a screw retainer.

Simple to add a flexible mount between the unit gimbal mount and deck to remove it or adjust it for viewing at any angle.

Humminbird has a transducer switch TS3 to choose between two transducers.

I went through the one FF deal for awhile because of $$. I had two mounts and 2 transducers and it was just a pop from one holder and push into another. Still a PIA. I didn't do it for long before it became too much trouble because each time you also have to wait for it to power on, power off etc. Rotating on one mount towards the front and rear worked better but still not good. I'd rather have a cheap $100 unit on the bow than deal with it again. Better off biting the bullet and buying 2.

Someone did make themself an adjustable stand for the bow recently. Used a telescoping butt seat pole and put another mount on the deck and welded a mount on top. Didn't look too bad and would definitely help with a smaller screen. I guess you could also do it by putting a camera like a gopro aimed at the console FF and run something like a large tablet at the bow with a wifi connection to the camera and one of the humminbird remotes for the FF to change screens and mark spots.

Gamin Echo map series quick connects no plugs to attach or remove just one clip that locks it in. Just takes a second to remove and install. You could buy a second mount, wires, and transducer and move it back and forth. Not sure what size your looking at but if you got the 9" version with the extras to mount in both locations you would probably be under 1500 total. Might give it a look echomap93sv

Good suggestion Brad. I didn't know the Garmin had the quick connect. That's one thing I really don't like with the Lowrance and Humminbird units I've owned.

I will take a look at the Garmin.
