Is anyone using the 3D? If so, how do you like it compared to conventional side imaging?

It's not out yet to us regulars, just a few pro staffers have it.

It's available. All you need is a Gen3 unit and the 3D module.

Here is the module at Tackle Warehouse. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lowrance_StructureScan_3D_Transducer_and_Module/descpage-SSTDW.html

From what I've seen from demonstrations it will be a game changer and a must have for some!

It's available at Bass Pro for 1000.00. I'm not 100% sure but it looks as if it's only compatible with gen 3 units. It will definitely be a great tool but I think I will wait a while before installing it. Not sure what kind of bugs come along with it at this point if any.

I received a email this morning with a new update available for Gen 2 touch that makes them compatible with the 3d module.

All you need is a BIG pile of money! It is Marketing's job to keep those elusive "game-changers" coming.
It's not coincidental that the 3D support software module will probably never make it into Gen 2 Touch code release. This is the round-about way of keeping the consumer always buying that new next big thing at bleeding edge pricing. I'm still learning to use my Gen 2 stuff!

Have you had any issues running it? Any bugs or weird things happening?

I don't think that's right. I was hoping that was right, but I had to read it twice to make sure....

New software has been released for HDS Gen3 and HDS Gen2 Touch multifunction displays. The RTM 3.0 update for HDS Gen3 enables StructureScan® 3D, giving anglers a unique imaging view that offers a better understanding of where fish and structure are located in relation to their boat.

Both the Gen3 update and the HDS Gen2 Touch RTM 5.0 update include significant performance enhancements to SideScan and DownScan Imaging™ when used with the StructureScan 3D module and transducer. In addition, both updates add support for the SonicHub® 2 audio server and the latest WM-3 SiriusXM® Weather Module feature enhancements.

Read a little closer. 3D is only for Gen 3 units. Gen 2 is "left/right range and clarity improvements"

It appears to be grey area on the Gen2 stuff with the new update.. I was just wondering if anyone had actually used it.. I have seen the demos as has everyone else and it Definately looks cool.. I would think lowrance will keep it hush until all the Gen2 stuff is gone on whether it will only work on 2s or 3s.. From a marketing standpoint they would be crazy not to.
