Thanks for the previous advice. Going to be heading down to the Freeport side of San Luis the first weekend of March. Camping on the beach and fishing for a couple days. Got any advice for me. Not fishing tips just general need to know. Haven't done this in a long time so any help is greatly appreciated. We have one 4wd and one two wheel drive. Taking a shovel and various other things to get unstuck. So I think. I'm covered in that. Is there a good access point and camping spot to be at? Gonna be about 8 of us. Thanks THFr's. Tight lines boys!!

I wouldn't wander too far from my stuff if I was beach camping there. Bring firewood. I never go without carrying a pistol. Parts of the beach can be remote and I have heard horror stories, though I haven't had a bad experiences myself (other than the weather).

We camped there just before thanksgiving for a night and fished all night on the Galveston side. I would say the Galveston (north) side of the pass has better fishing. We had no problem with getting stuck or anything. The sand was packed down from some recent rain. I have also heard some really bad stories about getting mugged or shot out there, just keep your guard up and have a fire. Maybe bring a pistol or even a look alike play pistol just in case you need to scare somebody away.

You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
