Anyone tried it yet? It seems interesting that it has a stiff backbone, but lure weight is down to 1/64.

I have 2 sharpshooters, the 4.5 & 5 ft. that I use mainly for slips, barge fishing and dock shooting. Have had them for about 6 yrs and love them. For the price and durability I don't think you will regret buying one.

I have a 4.5 and 5 and love them for barge fishing when they get crowded.

Thank you for the responses. I have a 5.5' also, but I think I'm going to try this new one. Should be a good all around rod for jigging, shooting, and the kids.

I don't use B "n" M but a stiff backbone I do use on all of my jig rods. To me they just have a better feel.

Yes, Larry. I love my Proanglers, but the Sharpshooter I have works well and handles light jigs.

I am looking for a 4.5' or 5' stiff rod for jigging out of my slip. I just don't like the limber rod's so looking for one with more back bone. Any suggestions?

Fillet, proangler's 4.5' is really stiff. I don't know about the Sharpshooter 4.5', but I have felt of a 5' and it was stiffer than my 5.5'.

Thanks for the message! Yes, I have had my hands on the new SharpShooter 6 for a few months now. I can tell you with 100% honesty...not speaking from a Pro Staff position...that is is a HUGE improvement over the prior models. Here's why:
1. 6' length allows for more versatile fishing over 4.5' and 5' models. The longer rod makes jig shooting easier because you have more time from when you release the jig to when you release the line. 2. Fixed reel seat. No more Tennnessee Handle, so you can fix the spinnig reel to the rod without worrying about it coming off. 3. Touch System built into the handle. Now you have contact directly to the rod from within the handle for greater sensitivity. 4. Tiny eyelet at the tip. This, along with the very stiff backbone...greatly reduces line "waggle" as the jig is shooting away from the rod. This results in farther jig shots for sure.
I have spooled the reels with 4, 6, and 8 pound line, and have shot jigs as heavy as 1/8 ounce with no problem. A 6-pound line and 1/16 or 1/32 is a perfect match...you will be very pleased with this rod for sure!

I think I have 4 of them left (found a stupid sale on them for 4.88 once and bought 8) Gave a few away over the years. Now I will have to go pick up a couple of the new versions.
