At the tail race are these trails on the same side of the river as the pump building or the other side of the river?

Seems that there are a lot more fish holding over after the stocking day! I usually catch most of my fish days after the stocking. Also cbag1,I know the feeling quite well. Catch two pretty quick and all of a sudden it takes about 30 to 45 minutes to catch the third. The fourth comes pretty quick after that,then another 30 to 45 minutes for the fifth.


Side Note: Nice fish Curtis and Jeff! I was talking with Mike(USMC-GY) the other day and was telling him about those trails. Good job on finding a stack of fish!

Txinghrn85: Good luck! Let us know how you do. If you have never fished for trout before or not all that often it can be tricky and hard especially with the fast current on the river this year. The more you fish the better you will get. The most important thing is that you both are enjoying the GREAT OUTDOORS!

I don't ever remember seeing a pump building at the trails. There is a generator building at the trail race. The trails are to the right of the trail race as you face away from the dam. Next parking lot over.

Sorry I meant the generator building. I thought they said it was on the same side as the building and I was scratching my head. I have been on the trails on the other side once after a rain in November. It was too muddy to go all the way down. Do the put the trout in right at the generator building when they stock? I may try it Thursday. Let me know if you are going to be down there. I would like to meet you.

Plus #1. cbag1: The trails are just a little damp due to the mist. There are a couple of slippery spots but it is pretty easy making your way down to the river. The current is extremely fast and there are a few snags to watch out for. Look for the top water action and you will find em. Looks like the next time I will able to fish will be either Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Myself and Mike (USMC-GY) picked up these the other day just up form the springs!

Gulp corn colored trout bait,Berkley Trout Bait,orange color,and Berkley Trout Worms,orange colored,were the baits used.

Made me hungry! And that ice cold beer. Man I think im about to be sick next few days.

Thanks River Mongrel for the reply! Yes Sir this a nice time of year to be calling in sick for sure. A good cure for anything is some nice relaxing time on the Guadalupe River catching a few trout.

I'm headed out to Hueco now to give them another try.

Thanks PlanoKieth,for the reply! Trout fishing is a GREAT way to spend the winter! cbag1: If you fish today hopefully you will do better. Stocking day is today. At least you made it out yesterday. Fishing is one thing. Catching em is another.

Fished the trails at the Trail Race and limited. Fished from 10am till 2pm. Trial Race was crowded when I left. Berkley cheese colored trout bait was the bait of choice used. Current has slowed down a lot since the last couple of weeks. Had to get some trout time in. Got to work the next four days. Left em biting.
